New Construction-Pascagoula

We have a chance for rain tomorrow but if that doesn't happen it's okay because I have another plan for my yards. I intend to fill the yards with decorative statues ... some will be pretty and some will be whimsical. The drought we are going through is nothing new in our area. Usually when the rains come the plants grow, flowers bloom and then comes July. The plants and flowers burn to a crisp. We know this but still we plant with hopes that this time it will be different. BUT just in case, I am starting something new.

I will be out soon looking for interesting pictures to show you. New construction is getting harder to find but as soon as the people who are in the FEMA trailers can cut through the "red tape" and assistance comes to their aid, there will be a bulding boom. It just isn't happening at this point in time.

WLOX-TV - The News for South Mississippi: News & Video

WLOX-TV - The News for South Mississippi: News & Video: "Easter Cold Blast Hopping Toward Coast
One final blast of cold air will blanket south Mississippi this weekend. Sleet and frost are both in the forecast. And the timing couldn't be worse. If predictions are correct, Easter sunrise services and egg hunts will be quite chilly. And if temperatures dip low enough, there's also a concern about all those spring plants that so many people have already put in their gardens. Brad Kessie reports."

SunHerald.com : Biloxi and Gulfport News, Casinos, Jobs, Real Estate, Sports and Cars: "Freeze will follow storm "

In Jackson County, the storm cell spawned a tornado in Gulf Park Estates, bringing a tree down across Simmons Bayou Road, but leaving structures undamaged.

Small hail was reported in Pascagoula, Moss Point and at Mississippi 57 and Interstate 10, where a tornado also was sighted.

Around 7:20 a.m. a volunteer firefighter reported the tornado, but it didn't touch down, said Butch Loper, director of the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency. It was believed to have passed north of the Ocean Springs Wal-Mart on U.S. 90. The firefighter also reported debris on the interstate holding up traffic near where he spotted the tornado.

At 9 a.m., Moss Point reported a major two-car wreck on Mississippi 63, in which a car hit a pole and flipped onto a truck.

As the storm system passed through about 11 a.m., a heavy fog settled on U.S. 90 between Gautier and Pascagoula and several blocks into both cities. At mid-day, visibility was less than 50 yards.

In Jackson County, Singing River Electric Power Association crews restored power by late morning to 1,500 members. The outages were in St. Martin, Ocean Springs and Fountainbleu.

Coast Electric had about 300 customers lose power that was restored by late morning and more than 600 Mississippi Power customers lost power that was restored by noon.

The weather forecaster alerted us last evening to a severe system that would pass through our area. I was up most of the night and not a drop of rain fell. NOTHING! So I fell asleep where I lay, in my recliner. Just before 7:00AM the rain started ... it got pretty wild with wind, lightning and rainfall. My feelings on the weather, since Katrina, is each time I make it through the unstable weather that we are experiencing, is that I have dodged yet another bullet!

More winter heads for Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri - CNN.com

More winter heads for Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri - CNN.com: "MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma (AP) -- Still recovering from snow and ice storms that downed power lines and trees in a large swath of the country, residents of Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas braced for another round Friday.

With thousands of customers in Oklahoma still without power, Gov. Brad Henry on Thursday requested a major federal disaster declaration, which would make people in hard-hit counties eligible for housing grants and low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses. He had already declared a state of emergency."
