MDOT Project Underway To Alleviate Traffic Congestion In Jackson County
Mississippi Department of Transportation leaders say the intersection of I-10 and Highway 609 is one of South Mississippi's most traffic congested areas. A big part of that is due to the destruction of the Biloxi-Ocean Springs Bridge after Katrina. Two lanes of the bridge are scheduled to open in November. But MDOT is carrying out a $2 million project to help alleviate traffic problems at the intersection before then.
